Figure 846: The "Function" field is in most cases not used and therefore left empty.
The Function field is connected to an attribute called FUNKTION, which is not used for the function aspect, which in turn is placed in a field called Plant, which is connected to an attribute called ANLAGEI. We are sorry for the confusing nomenclature!
Function can be used for a fourth aspect, or for any other additional part of the item designations that you may have a need for. In most cases, this field is simply not used and therefore left empty, but sometimes it is nice to have for special needs.
The functionality of function is similar to plant, location and circuit, in the sense that the information in the boundary box is valid for the symbols within the box. However, there are also an important difference, since function is not subject to levelling. Function always works as if item designations in multiple levels would be turned off, even if it is on. In other words, if you have two boundary boxes with one of them inside the other, and both of them specify function, but with different values, the innermost box for each symbol within, will determine the actual function for each symbol within the boxes.
Function is limited to a maximum of 40 characters.
