In the Item designations 2 tab, you specify in detail how item designations are handled and composed.

 

 

The first setting controls whether the item designations should be dependent on separator characters or not. This setting switches between two completely different behaviours, not only in the design work, but also for the composition of the item designation in the Project Parameters. So, before you continue with the rest of the settings, you must first decide if you want to use Separator character independent item designations or not. You control that with a check-box in the first section of the Item designations 2 tab, a section named Separator characters in item designations.
