The module is specified in the catalogue for each resource and is used to specify the relationship between the number of symbols in the circuit diagrams and the number of physical devices. In the simplest cases, the module is 1. An example of where the module is not 1, is for level terminals.

 

Connectors are normally represented by as many symbols as the number of pins or sockets, even though it is only one connector. The module is then the number of pins or caps.

 

Multilevel terminals with two levels, are normally represented by two terminal symbols, one for each level. The module is therefore 2.

 

For the calculation to yield the correct quantity in a summarised list, the number of symbols is divided by the module and the result rounded to the nearest integer. This gives the correct quantity.

 

The module is always a positive integer. The default value for the module (the value that is used if the module is not specified) is 1 for all resources except for connectors where it is equal to the number of existing pins and/or sockets.

 

After all this has been said, mostly for orientation purposes, it can finally be stated that none of this is relevant to the device list in Dynamic OnLine I. In a device list (a non-summarised list or a list summarised by item designation, which is what the device list in Dynamic OnLine I is) no consideration is taken to the module.

 

Therefore, the concept is only valid when it is time for reports to be created by the Report Generator, and when doing so, in four separate cases:

 

Device list summarised by project (*L.DBF)

Device list summarised by location (*2.DBF/ORT)

Device list summarised by plant (*2.DBF/ANL)

Device list summarised by combination of plant and location (*2.DBF/AUO)
