cadett ELSA is equipped with a number of useful features for PDF generation. Single multi-sheet PDF files covering entire projects can be generated. Bookmarks can be included and configured according to user preferences. Hyperlinks for cross-references can be created, which makes it possible to navigate through a large PDF file by clicking the cross-references. It is also possible to make the PDF’s searchable, meaning that you can search for texts, like item designations, which naturally can be a very effective way of navigating in large PDF files.
A few additional actions are required to enable all the PDF Generation features that are briefly described above. These actions are:
1.Create a PS_CADETT virtual printer in AutoCAD.
2.Create a PDF_CADETT virtual printer in AutoCAD.
Both virtual printers are created automatically the first time you start the QuickPDF feature.
If these virtual printers are not working satisfactory, you can simply delete them and then restart the QuickPDF, in order to recreate the printers.
It is also possible to create the virtual printers manually, but that should be done only as a last resort, since the automatic procedure normally works perfectly fine.
In the sub-topics that are listed below, you will find a detailed descriptions how to create the printers manually, if you would ever need to do that.
Technical note
In older versions of cadett ELSA, one software called FreePDF and another one called GhostScript were used for PDF Generation. The use of these two has since been discontinued. It is still possible to use GhostScript with cadett ELSA, but it is no longer needed, since cadett ELSA offers an embedded alternative, which requires no action from the user.
