Figure 974: Here, a PLC mirror is placed directly below a PLC main symbol. This PLC mirror contains 8 digital inputs with 2 connection points each.
A PLC mirror contains information corresponding to the one in the help symbols, but for multiple I/O’s. In that way it mirrors the information in the help symbols and provides an overview of multiple I/O’s.
The PLC mirror offers many advantages, like for instance:
•Showing the current booking status, meaning which I/O’s are used and what they are used for.
•Giving an overview in one place of multiple I/O’s.
•Allowing the I/O’s to be spread in the circuit diagrams where they belong function-wise, meaning that the circuit diagram may be drawn in a function oriented manner, without having a less perspicuous result.
•Changes made in the help symbols are automatically and OnLine mirrored in the PLC mirror, meaning that the changes are transferred there.
•Changes made in the PLC mirror are automatically and OnLine mirrored in the help symbols, meaning that the changes are transferred there.
The PLC mirror has attributes for, besides item designation information, the same information as is present in the help symbols, but for multiple I/O’s. This makes the PLC mirror quite extensive, with a sometimes very large number of attributes.
