Spare terminals are calculated using the numbering algorithm that is assigned to each terminal group. The algorithm assignments are created and managed directly from the Terminal Dialogue box within the Drawing Environment, and/or from the Terminals groups section of the Terminals / connections tab of the Project Parameters.
For each terminal group, a numbering algorithm and a limit is specified. The limit specifies the total number of terminals within the terminal group, and the numbering algorithm how they should be numbered.
It might seem as a good idea to set the limit relatively high, "just to be sure". Doing so can however have serious consequences and should not be done without careful consideration. The number of spares that need to be calculated will then by far exceed the number of actual terminals and/or cable cores. The amount of memory and processor power needed for the calculation, as well as the size of the TARGET databases, will increase in a disproportional way, possibly resulting in a substantial decline in performance. Therefore you are encouraged to set the limits to realistic values that reflect the true physical numbers.
