Figure 144: The "SOURCE directory" is specified as shown here. Please use the default to avoid problems that may otherwise occur.
The SOURCE directory constitutes the physical location of the project, meaning where the files of the project will be placed. Generally speaking, it is a bad idea to adjust this manually. All projects should normally be placed in a common main project directory, like X:\PROJ or similar.
Nevertheless, you have the opportunity to make manual adjustments to the SOURCE directory before its is created, but normally you should accept the default.
Several sub-directories of the SOURCE directory will also be created automatically. The names of them are fixed. (Examples: TARGET and REV).
The default location of the SOURCE directory (in the main projects directory) is controlled by a setting that is made when installing cadett ELSA. If you want to have another default main projects directory, that common central configuration must be changed, which is a matter for an administrator.
Please also note, that when using a local installation of cadett ELSA, the SOURCE directory must be located on a local hard disk, and never on a server.
In a network installation, the SOURCE directory must be located on the same server as where cadett ELSA is installed. Access to the directory directly from the server is mandatory. Therefore, it is not allowed to place the SOURCE directory on a local hard disk, when working on a workstation in a network installation.
The name of the SOURCE directory itself is by default identical with the Short project name, but it is possible to base the name on the Long project name instead. That is accomplished with the check-box below called Use an adjusted version of the long project name as SOURCE directory, which is described in a separate sub-topic that you can access using the link.
More details about the SOURCE directory are found using the link.
