Exclusive

The Exclusive function has nothing to do with neither sorting, nor page and line break. The only connection is that you manage it in the same place in the Report Generator.

Exclusive is a fine function that you can use to increase the readability of your reports. It is all about making the lists more airy and easier to read, without losing any information.

Exclusive implies that the value of a field is printed only the first time after the value has changed. In other words, the value is not printed if it is equal to the value at the line above. This provides the same information but with a more airy and more easy-to-read result. (On the first row on a page, the value is always printed).

An example shown in the two tables below, hopefully makes the implication clear.

You select to use Exclusive for a report variable by clicking twice in the Exclusive column and then select Exclusive from the drop-down list that will then be available.

If you do not want to use this function, please use the option No exclusive instead.

Of course, you can combine sorting and possible line or page breaks with Exclusive. It is however also possible to select Exclusive for variables which you do not sort on and which you do not have any page or line break for. This is the reason that the alternative No sorting is included among the adjustment alternatives.
