Connection point number

The Connection point number is primarily the designation of a physical connection point. The IEC term for this is "product terminal designation" (ref: IEC1714).

 

For components without physical marking of the connection points, like for example a resistor, "virtual connection point numbers" are recommended, for example 1 and 2 for the connection points of a resistor.

The connection point number can either be fixed or editable. An editable connection point number is stored in an attribute. Please refer to the Attribute check-box sub-topic.

 

The connection point number that you enter for an editable connection point (where Attribute is checked), will act as default when inserting the symbol.

 

A connection point number can be visible or invisible. A fixed connection point number may correspond to a fix text in the symbol, or to nothing at all, if there is no need to display the connection point number. An attribute for a connection point number is most commonly placed in the ATTRIB25 layer, but can be placed in HIDE instead, to make it invisible, if that is desired.
