Adjust filenames according to field content

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

This feature is primarily intended for filename compositions that include for example function/plant and/or location, or other information related to the content of the title field.

The Report Generator always create an entire report where all sheets have filenames with a fixed part completed with sheet numbers created with one single sheet number counter. More complicated filenames and sheet numbering systems, for example sheet numbers dependent on function and/or location, do not fit that limitation.

However, the Adjust filenames according to field content feature can adjust the filenames automatically and directly when the report generation process is finished, so that filename compositions like the ones mentioned above are fully supported.

The Adjust filenames according to field content feature is in fact handled by the Drawing Manager. What happens if you activate it using the check-box that is discussed here, is that a command is sent to the Drawing Manager when the report has been generated. That command tells the Drawing Manager to execute the actual feature.

In the Drawing Manager, it is possible to start this feature manually from the Module pull-down menu.

A complete  description of the feature is also available in the Drawing Manager topic, more specifically in a sub-topic named Adjust filenames according to field content. Please refer to that sub-topic for further details.
