On and Off

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The most fundamental setting for the OnLine Engine is of course whether it is On or Off. You may select that in the upper left corner of the dialogue box, in the OnLine section.

If the OnLine Engine is turned off, cadett ELSA will work almost as a plain AutoCAD, with all automatic functions turned off. In some situations, that can sometimes be an advantage, partly because all error control is also turned off. In other words, if you want to do something that the OnLine Engine regards as incorrect, turning it off might avoid some error messages. You may execute your “incorrect operations” and, when they are done and the incorrect content gone, turn the OnLine Engine on again. An example of an incorrect operation like that, is to draw outside of the drawing frame. To do so, immediately results in error messages. Not only one message, but one for each symbol and command. If you turn the OnLine Engine off, you will avoid them.

Generally, it is however recommended to keep the OnLine Engine on. To turn it off, is like working without protective equipment, like lifeline, goggles, and ear protection. It might be dangerous!
