Please note that installation of cadett ELSA with dynamic workstations is covered in the separate Installation for thin clients topic.

In the Dynamic workstations topic, here, you will find a description of the dynamic workstation feature as such, not a full installation documentation. Please refer to the topic mentioned above for a complete installation instruction.

Nevertheless, in short, a multi-user installation of cadett ELSA utilising dynamic workstations is made in the following way:

1.The main installation is made as a conventional server installation in the same way as with standard fixed workstations.

2.The DYN_WS.INI configuration file, located in the main directory of cadett ELSA (like X:\ELSA or similar) is edited to specify the drive letter that should be used as substituted drive for the user-specific workstation directory (for example U:).

3.A neutral workstation is installed on each computer that will host dynamic workstations. In a typical “small thin client solution”, that would be on the combined cadett ELSA/workstation server. In a “large thin client solution”, that would be on all involved workstation servers. For conventional “thick clients”, it would be on each computer that will be used as a cadett ELSA workstation.

4.The first time cadett ELSA is started on a specific computer for a specific user, everything needed to run cadett ELSA will be created and configured automatically. Please note that the workstations in a solution like this will be personal (by user), instead of by computer, as in a conventional installation.
