In the upper left corner of the main dialogue box, in the Insert sub-section of the Symbol section, you can specify which of the three kinds of parts that the Generic symbol consists of that should be inserted. Normally all three parts should be included. The possibility to select only some of them is mostly used when editing existing Generic symbols, and if you wish to split a Generic symbol over multiple pages. In the latter case, you can create Generic symbols without main symbols to act as help symbols. Those “generic help symbols” will then refer to a “generic main symbol”, which is defined the ordinary way. In cases like that it is of course important that you use the same item designation.
