Composition of Generic symbols

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The Generic symbol is made up of three kinds of parts:

1.A box

2.A main symbol with index in the upper left corner of the box

3.One or many connections, which are constituted of help symbols

The item designation is defined only once, and that is in the box. The rest of the symbols automatically inherit the item designation from the box, like function (plant) and location are inherited to symbols within a boundary box. The item designation attribute for the rest of the symbols, except for the box, should therefore be left empty.

It is easy to edit Generic symbols. For instance, you can move the connections using the ordinary Move command. If you need additional connection points, it is easy to copy existing ones.
