Colours for both black and white background

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The main idea behind the current layer colours, is to offer nice visibility and ergonomics for both black and white background. To achieve that goal, the colours have been made generally darker than they were previously. To offer the best possible ease of use, the new colours are as similar as possible to the old ones.

For example “yellow” has been replaced with “orange”. The changes to the other colours are similar.

In the DIN5 symbol library, a feature that has existed in IEC since the 1980's, were added when white background colour was implemented, namely to display electrical layers as black/white, while non-electrical layers are shown in “colour”. Since the DIN5 uses multiple colours for electrical layers, a number of black/white colours were introduced as different shades of grey.

Please refer to the Background colours topic for examples of both backgrounds.
