Figure 431: The "Potential references" section
Potential references are special symbols, which are primarily used to define connections between sheets. A potential reference symbol is placed in the end of a line, and a similar potential reference symbol is placed in the end of another line, typically in another sheet. Potential reference symbols have attributes with which you can specify the so-called potential name (a signal name or a potential name). By using identical potential names in both symbols, the two lines are electrically connected, as if a line had connected them.
Potential references are completed automatically and OnLine with cross-references, referring "to the other end", meaning where the corresponding potential reference symbol is located.
In this section of the project parameters, you choose how the potential names should be composed, and in general how to handle potential references.
It is worth noting, that the IEC standard has rules for the composition of potential reference names (IEC1175), and even some details about the names themselves (IEC445).
