Wire and cable lists

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

To create super project wire and cable lists from the wire and cable lists of the sub-projects, is a much more complicated matter than the corresponding task for device lists.

Since wires and cables between the sub-projects are not a part of ordinary wire and cable lists for sub-projects, a special kind of temporary wire and cable lists must be created in this process. This special wire and cable list contains open ends, meaning wires and cable cores where only one end is defined within the sub-project, and where the other end is referred using a potential reference to another sub-project. These special wire and cable lists are then processed in such a way that the open ends are paired with one another to create complete wire and cable core definitions similar to the ones within single sub-projects.

The *W.DBF is an extended version of the *A.DBF and the *I.DBF conventional wire and cable database. The extension is that *W.DBF contains loose ends, in addition to the ordinary content. Therefore the *W.DBF may be used as input for the creation of *A.DBF and *I.DBF for super projects.

(*A.DBF is a one-way version of the wire and cable list. *I.DBF is a two-way version, where all connections are present twice, one in each direction).
