Figure 59:  Typical directories of a project

A physical directory (folder) called the SOURCE directory is associated with a project. The content of the project such as drawing sheets is located in that directory.

Several sub-directories of the SOURCE directory are also used for various purposes. Most of them have predefined names, such as REV, which is used to store revisions.

One of these sub-directories is called the TARGET directory, which is used for reports and other documents that are created automatically. When project are created using the current version of cadett ELSA, the TARGET directory is always named TARGET. In older versions of cadett ELSA, it was however possible to give the TARGET directory any name. Old projects may therefore have TARGET directories named SLUT, LISTE, or something else. "SLUT" in Swedish means "end", and "LISTE" in German means "list".

In most cases, the main directories of all projects are located in one and the same main projects directory, for instance called X:\PROJ or similar. Creating a more sophisticated physical directory structure for the projects, is not necessary at all. In fact, we strongly advice against it. Generally speaking, it its a bad idea to access the files of cadett ELSA projects using other tools than cadett ELSA. It is therefore in most cases counter-productive to invest manual efforts in creating such a physical structure. It is better not to have one!
