A project is defined by its two names, both of which must be unique. Additionally, a description further simplifies the identification of the project.

The Long project name is the true name of the project, and the primary identifier which you use to find and access the project. The long name may contain up to 50 characters. National characters, upper and lower case, digits and separator characters may all be used.

The Short project name is an internal identifier (a "project id") that is limited in size. It is normally created automatically, but it is also possible to define it manually when creating a project. The short project name cannot be changed. The maximum length is seven characters. Only upper case letters, digits, dash and underline can be used.

Each project also has a Project description. There are only two requirements for the description, namely that it must exist (it cannot be empty), and that it must not exceed 39 characters in length.
