Three different item designation configurations are described below. All three are used by some of the included  demonstration and prototype projects:

 

1.Item designations configured in a level oriented implementation of IEC1346 with two fixed transitions in a traditional way (function, location and product)

 

2.Item designations according to an extremely flexible IEC1346 item designation implementation with an arbitrary number of transitions in an arbitrary sequence

 

3.Item designations in a simplified IEC750-like IEC1346 implementation in a flat structure without levels for function and location
