For reasons that are deeply hidden in the dark recesses of technology, the two tabs for cables and devices may in some cases be missing when you activate the palette. Please refer to the figure below, which shows exactly that situation.

 

 

If you experience this annoyance, you can simply expand the palette a little bit by gently dragging the edge of it, and the tabs will appear as they should, as shown in the figure below.
