This feature is available in symbol libraries which are configured to handle both vertical and horizontal symbols. (That configuration is located in ACAD.INI).

 

(Please note that the standard DIN5 symbol library does not support horizontal symbols. The IEC1082 symbol library however supports both horizontal and vertical symbols).

 

The setting is stored separately for each sheet.

 

 

•L means Lying down = Horizontal

 

•S means Standing up = Vertical

 

The third button will present both horizontal and vertical symbols simultaneously. However, that setting cannot be stored in the drawing sheet. A drawing sheet is considered to be either horizontal or vertical, never both, which however does not prevent showing both symbols versions at once or to mix them in a particular sheet.
