In cadett ELSA, it is possible to create customised menu commands, like keyboard shortcuts, toolbars, drop-down menus, and ribbon menus. Basically, this is done using standard AutoCAD features. However, some additional techniques must be applied as well, to achieve full compatibility with standard cadett ELSA functionality, and to automatically preserve the customisation when updating cadett ELSA to new revisions or versions.
Customised menu commands are defined in an AutoCAD menu file. It is possible to place them in the standard cadett ELSA menu file, but if you do that, all your menu items will disappear as soon as you switch language or update the software. Therefore, the customisations should be placed in a separate menu file with a separate name, a so-called “partial customisation file”. A special configuration file is used to load the customised menu file.
