To create a new menu item, first find the command that you want to create a menu item for in the command list in the bottom left. Select a command and drag it to the appropriate part of your own customisation file.
If you are unsure what to search for, you can navigate to any command in the tree view on the top left, where you find the entire standard menu. You can therefore use the known position in the menu of any command to find it and to select it. When selected in the menu that way, the command in question will also be automatically selected in the lower left corner, from where you can drag it to the appropriate node of the Partial Customisation File.
Depending on what kind of menu item you want to have, you may have to create a proper place for it, like a new ribbon panel, or a new sub-menu of a drop-down menu.
For commands that you place in the keyboard shortcut node, you need to define a key combination that will then be available to activate the command. You do that by selecting the command to the left and specify the associated key to the right in the Key(s) field of the Properties section. You can either type for example SHIFT+A or use the select button and simply click the key combination that you want to use.
