Composition of item designations

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

In cadett ELSA, there are four different types of item designations. They are used for:

Conventional devices, for instance contactors and motors

PLC

Cables

Terminals and connectors

The composition of item designations is configured separately for each type.

For each one, you can specify how item designations are assembled, which is done graphically.

A complete description of how you practically manipulate the composition for each type of item designations is found in a sub-topic named Editing compositions for item designations.

Terminals and connectors are handled in the Item designations 3 tab. The other three are handled in the Item designations 2 tab and are therefore discussed here. A separate sub-topic explain the Differences between Conventional devices, PLC's and Cables that exist.

The way that the composition work is quite different for Separator character independent item designations, than for ordinary item designations. One major difference is for example that the composition is made in two levels with separate compositions for Separator character independent item designations.

The detailed description of the composition is therefore divided in two separate sub-topics, one for separator character dependent item designations and one for separator character independent ones. You will find links to both sub-topics below.
