Two kinds of cable help symbols may be of interest. The most common one is the cable core symbol. The second one is a cable help symbol that is not a cable core. One example of such a symbol is the cable help symbol that is used by the external connection diagram feature.
An example of a user defined cable help symbol that is a cable core is found in the Cable main symbol topic. Please refer to that!
A cable core symbol is characterised by the following properties:
•It is defined as a cable help symbol
•The function code is KAB (cable core)
•The connection direction is "up", "down", "left", or "right".
A cable help symbol that is not a cable core is somewhat different. The main characteristics are the following:
•It is defined as a cable help symbol
•The function code is KAB (cable core)
•The connection direction is "none" (no connection).
•It may still have a KNR1 attribute for a "virtual cable core number".
A "virtual cable core number" is regarded as information only, and is not subject to any controls.
The way a cable help symbol that is not a cable core is created with the Symbol Generator is to simply omit the connection point. This can be done by either not inserting the connection object from the beginning or, if you start with a cable core symbol, to simply delete the connection object, and if desired to add a separate KNR1 attribute.
