The table below contains descriptions of all parts that can be used for the composition of cross-references.

 

Part

Description

Plant

Plant as part of the composition of cross-references refers to the plant/function designation in the title field or the upper left corner of the drawing frame for the drawing sheet to which the cross-reference refers.

 

Plant (IEC750) is defined as a function oriented high level designation (function groups or electrically gathered units). In IEC1346 it is defined as a function oriented aspect. Expressed in a popular manner this is a division based on function. Plant has therefore nothing to do with the physical location.

 

When a plant is used as part of a cross-reference, it refers to the plant designation that is specified in the title field, or upper left corner of the drawing frame. Please note that redundancy reduction therefore refer to the plant defined in the title field of the current drawing sheet, not on any possible surrounding boundary boxes or similar.

 

It is necessary to use this technique when plant dependant sheet numbering is used. That is when the plant designation is needed to separate drawing sheets with identical sheet numbers.

 

Location

Location as part of the composition of cross-references refers to the location designation in the title field or the upper left corner of the drawing frame for the drawing sheet to which the cross-reference refers.

 

Location according to IEC1346 and IEC750 is defined as the physical location of the devices in question, or in the words of IEC1346, a location oriented aspect.

 

Expressed in a popular manner this is a division based on physical location.

 

When a location is used as part of a cross-reference, it refers to the location designation that is specified in the title field, or upper left corner of the drawing frame. Please note that redundancy reduction therefore refer to to location defined in the title field on the current drawing sheet, not on any possible surrounding boundary boxes or similar.

 

It is necessary to use this technique when location dependant sheet numbering is used. That is when the location designation is needed to separate drawing sheets with identical sheet numbers.

 

Drawing number

Drawing number as part of the composition of cross-references, refers to the drawing number (document number) in the title field for the drawing sheet to which the cross-reference refers.

 

It is necessary to use this technique when drawing number dependent sheet numbering is used. That is when a separate numbering series is used for each drawing number, perhaps restarting from 1 for each drawing number, and where therefore the drawing number is needed to separate drawing sheets with identical sheet numbers.

 

The drawing number part of the cross-reference composition, has en embedded separator character.

 

The drawing number, or the "document number", which is a more accurate term according to current IEC standards, must be defined in a separate block named DWGNO with an attribute also named DWGNO. Otherwise, the drawing number will be "unintelligent" and not work as a part of cross-references.

 

Document kind Classification Code (DCC)

Document kind Classification Code (DCC) as part of the composition of cross-references, refers to the DCC code in the title field for the drawing sheet to which the cross-reference refers.

 

How DCC codes should be used is defined in the IEC1355 standard, which also specifies that "&" should be used as separator character for it. The DCC code part of the cross-reference composition has an embedded separator character, which therefore typically should contain a "&".

 

It is necessary to use this technique when document type dependent sheet numbering is used. That is when a separate numbering series is used for each type of document, perhaps restarting from 1 for each type of document, like circuit diagrams and cabinet layouts, and where therefore the Document kind Classification Code is needed to separate drawing sheets with identical sheet numbers.

 

The DCC code must be defined in a separate block named DCCCODE with an attribute also named DCCCODE. Otherwise, the DCC code will be "unintelligent" and not work as a part of cross-references.

 

Example:

 

IEC1355 specifies that the DCC code for circuit diagrams should be &EFS and for cabinet layouts &ETL. If that information is put into the title field, preferably done automatically through a proper configuration of the Drawing Manager, the DCC code can be used to separate a circuit diagram sheet and a cabinet layout drawing sheet with identical sheet numbers.

 

Sheet

The sheet number for the drawing sheet to which the cross-reference refers. Please note, that the sheet number in many cases is not unique within a project, which makes it necessary to have additional parts in the cross-reference composition.

 

Separator character #1

Separator character #1 can be used between arbitrary cross-reference parts. There are three such separate separator characters available, of which this is the first.

 

Column

Column is the designation of the column to which a cross-reference refers.

 

Drawing sheets are normally divided into columns in order for cross-references to be as unambiguous as possible.

 

Row

Column is the designation of the row to which a cross-reference refers.

 

Drawing sheets are normally divided into rows in order for cross-references to be as unambiguous as possible.

 

Separator character #2

Separator character #2 can be used between arbitrary cross-reference parts. There are three such separate separator characters available, of which this is the second one.

 

Separator character #3

Separator character #3 can be used between arbitrary cross-reference parts. There are three such separate separator characters available, of which this is the third one.

 

Text        

Text is a standard text that can be included in cross-references. It can contain an arbitrary but fixed text, for instance "Sheet", "Blatt", "Blad" or anything else that is useful.

 

The content of this fixed test is configurable, using the project parameter Content of cross-reference part ”Text”.
