Conventional report generation is always made for one project at a time. The Super Project Report Generation feature makes it possible to generate reports that cover an entire super project, containing a number of sub-projects.
Generation of such super project reports is made in two steps:
•First, super project TARGET databases are created. They will cover all sub-projects.
•Secondly, reports are generated from the super project TARGET databases.
Both steps are made from the super project itself.
The Super Project TARGET database creation is started from within the Report Generator. It can be accessed only if the current project is a super project.
TARGET databases for the sub-projects of the super project in question are created when needed. The information in these sub-project-related databases is processed in a suitable manner, and the result is stored in TARGET databases for the entire super project. These super project TARGET databases are used for a report generation that is made directly in the super project itself.
When generating reports in conventional projects, the TARGET database generation is performed automatically in the process. No additional manual action is required. However, when generating reports in a super project, the TARGET database generation is much more extensive, time consuming and subject to a number of alternatives. Therefore, it has been separated from the report generation process. In practical terms this means that two manual actions are required. First, you have to generate the super project TARGET databases. Then, you can start the report generation.
How the super project TARGET databases are generated from the corresponding TARGET databases of the sub-projects is described in three separate sub-topics listed below, with convenient links.
Please refer to the Practical step by step guide for a description of how you use the feature practically.
