Below you will find an example of an item designation in a sample project that is included in cadett ELSA R39 - R41. It features a simple implementation of IEC1346.
Figure 8: The complete item designation of the left fuse in this example is =A1+D3-F1 according to the IEC1346 implementation that is used in the Demo IEC1355 English sample project.
In the drawing sheet, the first fuse is labelled –F1. The complete item designation for it is however =A1+D3–F1.
=A1 and +D3 have been inherited from the specifications made in the upper left corner of the drawing sheet. (This is according to the current IEC1082 standard. In older standards, before the mid 1990's, these designations were instead placed in the title field. That is no longer considered correct).
Then, what does =A1 and +D3 really mean?
The sub-topics that follow explains that and other details.
