Workstation directory

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Each workstation has its own workstation directory, which is named during installation.

When using a typical network installation, the workstation directory is located on the local hard disk of each workstation. The default name of that workstation directory is:

C:\ELSAWS<ServerDriveLetter><WorkstationCode>

Example:

C:\ELSAWSX1

In an environment with dynamic workstations, such as a thin client solution, the workstation directory will instead be located in the personal profile. A substituted drive letter is then used to achieve a uniform name of the workstation directory. Typically it will be called something like U:\ELSAWS for all workstations, but in each case that will refer to different physical directories.

In a local installation, the workstation directory will typically be named C:\ELSAWS0.

It is not possible to change the workstation directory for an existing workstation. The corresponding field in the dialogue box that is discussed here is for information only.
