Complete IEC1355 implementation

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The English demonstration project “Demo IEC1355 English” is a good example of the complete IEC1355 implementation.

In this implementation, all document codes defined by the standard are available from delivery. When creating new drawing sheets, you will have to specify the document code in detail, more or less character by character. The advantage is that you have full flexibility. The disadvantage is that multiple clicks are needed for the simple task of creating one single drawing sheet.

You select the different parts of the complete document code from three trees, of which the first and the last have one level only. The second tree has two levels.

In the first tree – Area – you select the technical area, like “Electrical engineering and instrumentation”. This specifies the first character of the file name.

The second tree – Class/subclass – is independent from the first. Here you select the document class and subclass in two levels.  They specify the second and third character of the file name.

The third tree – Counting number – is used whenever a need occurs to divide the documents within one single class/subclass into separate groups. If you, for example, are using several kinds of device lists, that need is eminent. In many cases however, there is no need for anything like this. Therefore, the counting number may or may not be used at your own preference.
