Attribute check-box

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

In a "fixed contact mirror", the connection point numbers are fixed and cannot be changed by the user. In that way, you can force a specific contact configuration that is associated with a certain product. This is a convenient way of avoiding mistakes with contact configurations that do not exist in reality.

In a "dynamic contact mirror", the number and types of contacts are fixed, but the connection point numbers are editable by the user. This is achieved by storing the connection point numbers in attributes. This enables a higher degree of flexibility, but also a greater risk of errors, with connection point numbers that do not match the physical products that will be used.

Please do not confuse a "dynamic contact mirror" with a "hyper dynamic contact mirror". The latter is flexible also when it comes to the number and types of contacts. Please refer to the Hyper Dynamic Contact Mirrors topic, where they are described.

The Attribute check-box, determines whether the connection point numbers of a contact that you are defining will be stored in attributes and hence be editable or not.

It is fully possible to mix fixed contacts with dynamic ones in one and the same contact mirror, but it is hardly useful. In almost all cases you are therefore advised to set all contacts of the mirror equal in this respect.

To visualise if a function is dynamic or not, asterisks (stars, "*") are used to symbolise "dynamic", meaning with attributes.

That is illustrated in the figure below, where you have fixed contacts to the right, and dynamic ones to the left.
