General description of the feature

It is possible at any time to define the current status of a project as a new revision. When doing so, the thereby created revision will be given a specific name, like a number or similar, to store the revision. A stored revision contains a complete copy of the project at that stage, including all drawing sheets. Additionally a revision database is created and stored in the revision. This revision database defines the status of the revision and is used for comparison with other revisions, making it possible to automatically create lists of the differences between any specified revisions. The revisions are stored in a compressed format, saving approximately 90% of the required disk space.

In the project list, it is possible to view which revisions are stored for each project.

It is possible to unpack any revision at any point of time, to open such an unpacked revision, to view the drawing sheets and to handle it in other ways as any other project. Please note however that any changes made to the unpacked revision do not affect the revision itself. It is not possible to change an existing revision. The only possible alteration is to delete it.

At any point of time, the user is able to compare any selected revisions with each other, including the current state of the project even if it is not specifically defined as a revision, or even another project. The result of such a comparison is stored in TARGET databases ready to use by the Report Generator to generate lists of changes.

These lists of differences describe exactly which devices have been removed, which ones have been added and which ones have been changed. This is also true for all wires and cables. As a consequence, the lists of changes are outstanding tools to streamline the work with extensions or other alterations to existing equipment, since they cover the changes only and nothing else.

When a backup of a project is created using the standard backup feature of cadett ELSA, all revisions of the project are included in the resulting EZP file.
