Spare terminals has been supported in cadett ELSA since the beginning of the 1990’s. By defining a suitable numbering algorithm and assigning that algorithm to an appropriate terminal group, the software can consider spare terminals within that group. Spare terminals are defined as terminals not drawn in the circuit diagram that are supposed to exist physically in the cabinet nevertheless.

 

The existence of spare terminals is displayed in the terminal list, where both the numbers and the positions of them within the terminal group is visible. This applies both for terminal lists presented in Dynamic OnLine I and in reports.

In the terminal dialogue of the Drawing Environment, the spare terminals can also be displayed by clicking the Select button for the Terminal Group Name. A sub-dialogue is then displayed, with which you can view all terminals within each terminal group, both the ones that are drawn in the circuit diagram and those that are not, but defined as spares.

However, the algorithm assignment definition of spare terminals that is described above does not specifically specify spare terminals as devices. To include spare terminals in device lists without a manual specification, additional functionality needs to be activated. That functionality is described here.
