The last command in the Help pull-down menu is About cadett ELSA…

The About cadett ELSA... command displays an information box, which gives you a lot of useful information. The content changes in a cyclic way between three different appearances.

The first appearance informs you about which program version and revision you are currently running, like "Version: 41.0.1.0", and the date when the software was last updated.

The first number in the specified version ("41") is the release number ("R41"). The two final numbers ("1.0"), constitute the revision number. Together, the release and the revision form the complete version/revision number, which in this example is "41.0.1.0".

In general terms, the difference between releases and revisions is that revisions are free updates, like bug fixes, while release updates are associated with a cost.

One new release of cadett ELSA is issued each year, normally in the autumn, while revisions are issued continuously when improvements are available. That happens multiple times a year, with an average interval of 2 - 3 months or so.

The second appearance deals with the license management system, like hardware lock or FlexLM license server.

The third appearance deals with the license itself, which version and level it supports.

The above-described facts can be of significance when you need support. When contacting cadett support with questions, it is common that you asked about which exact version and revision of cadett ELSA you are running. Those details are easily forgotten but the command described here is a convenient way to retrieve them.

To exit the information box, you simply click on it.
