File name composition

The file names in the example are 19 characters long.

The first six characters of the file names in the user defined example are identical with the complete IEC1355 implementation. Three separate document code trees are used to specify four document codes. The first tree, in one single level, is for Area. The second tree, with two levels, is for class and subclass. The third tree, in one single level, is for a counting number. Please refer to the Example of user defined document codes topic for a detailed description of all this.

 

In short however, these six characters are used to define the document kind, like a circuit diagram, a cabinet layout or a certain type of device list.

 

After the document kind specification, comes a constant in the form of an underscore ("_").

 

The following eight characters are used to specify where in the function/plant structure that the drawing sheet belongs. That is defined with one single document code tree in four levels. Each level is represented with two characters.

 

After the function/plant designation, comes yet another constant, also that one in the form of an underscore ("_").

 

Finally, the sheet number consists of three digits.

 

In total, that makes 19 characters.
