Special script sequence commands

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

To make it easier to create script sequences a number of special cadett ELSA commands has been created in AutoCAD to facilitate operations like opening and closing drawing sheets. There are four such special commands available:

ELSANEW

ELSADXFIN

ELSADXFOUT

ELSAQUIT

These commands are direct equivalents to the NEW, DXFIN, DXFOUT, and QUIT commands of AutoCAD, some of which may be regarded as belonging to the legacy category. The main difference in these special cadett ELSA versions of the commands, is that they always act in exactly the same way, when prompts and questions are concerned, which the corresponding standard AutoCAD commands do not.

The standard AutoCAD commands ask control questions in different ways in different situations. This is very unsuitable for use in script files. However, cadett ELSA’s special versions never asks anything, which makes them very flexible, simple and unambiguous to use in Script Sequences.

The ELSANEW command exits the current drawing sheet and creates a new empty drawing sheet.

The ELSADXFIN command opens a DXF drawing sheet. This command asks for the filename.

The ELSADXFOUT command saves the current drawing sheet with the same name as the sheet had when it once was opened. In other words, the command ELSADXFOUT does not ask any questions.

The ELSAQUIT command quits AutoCAD without any questions.
