The Running number defines the sequence between the connection points.

Why the connection point sequence matters, is explained in a separate sub-topic.

Two connection points cannot have the same Running number. The Symbol Generator will automatically make sure that there never is any Running number conflicts.

To adjust the sequence, you manually change the running number for one connection point at a time. However, if you type an already existing Running number, the Running numbers of other connection points will be directly and automatically adjusted to avoid any conflicts. The result may be both surprising and annoying. To avoid frustration when changing the sequence, you therefore need a strategy that always works. Here is a recommended one:

Before changing any running numbers, decide which order you want to have all your connection points in.

Then start with the one that you want to have last, and work your way from there, one by one, to the one that you want to have first.

Set the Running number for each connection point to the running number that you want them to have in the end.

Example:

If you have six connection points, start with the one that you want to have last. Give it number 6.

Continue with the one that you want to have second last. Give it number 5.

Continue in the same way with numbers 4, 3, 2, and finally 1 for the one that you want to have first.
