Check-in and check-out projects for TRAVEL

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

There are two ways to check-in and check-out projects for TRAVEL. The legacy manual way is available in all product levels of cadett ELSA, while remote travelling is available in cadett ELSA Enterprise only.

Legacy TRAVEL means that projects are checked-out and checked-in manually between a server and a local installation. A check-out is performed in the network environment from a workstation of the central cadett ELSA. When a project is checked out, an EZP file is created with the content of the project, and the project is locked in the network installation, to block other users from accessing it while it is being worked on locally. The EZP file is imported in the local installation, where the project is processed in any desired way. Afterwards, the project is exported from the local installation to a new version of the EZP file, which is then checked-in to the central installation, once again using a workstation of the network installation.

This is a legacy feature that has been superseded by the much more convenient Remote TRAVEL feature.

Remote TRAVEL means that projects can be checked-out from and checked-in to the network installation directly from the local installation. No direct access to the server installation is needed. A workstation of the network installation is not needed.

Detailed descriptions of the respective methods are available in separate sub-topics, which you can access using the links above.
