If this option is checked then parts of words can be translated.

 

If this option is un-checked, only complete words or phrases will be translated.

 

If you for example have defined “HELLO” in your lexicon and you try to translate “PHELLODENDRON” to Swedish, then the result could be “PHEJDENDRON”. (“Phellodendron” is another name for a cork-tree, obviously a commonly used word within electrical engineering. To run into a “phejdendron” must however be regarded as extremely unlikely).

 

The conclusion is that in most cases this feature is of limited use.
