Main table priority

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

If a conventional TARGET database is used, for example the *2.DBF, references to *G.DBF make all fields in both the selected TARGET database, and the *G.DBF available for the Report Generator. In most cases, there are no conflicts between the field names in the main database file (for example *2.DBF) and the base database file (*G.DBF). However, for various reasons, fields with the same name may exist.

That can be caused by configurations of user defined fields either for attributes or in the Catalogue. Another feature that can cause a similar situation,  is the possibility to add catalogue fields in the *G.DBF TARGET database file, which is used to include resource information in for example wire lists or terminal lists.

In such cases, the Report Generator will use the information from *G.DBF. If, for one reason or the other, you would like the Report Generator to do the opposite, you can use this setting. If Main table priority is activated, the field from the selected TARGET database, *2.DBF in our example, will have priority.
