Here you specify the step value for the column numbering.

 

If you number the columns 1, 2, 3, and so forth, the Step value is 1. If you number them 10, 20, 30, and so forth the Step value is 10. If you number them A, B, C, and so forth, the step is 1. Even if you number them 8, 7, 6, and so forth, the Step value is 1.

 

The Step value is therefore a numerical value, a positive integer.
