If you activate project parameter Sub-sorting controlled by cabinet layout, the connection generation takes the cabinet layout into consideration, if one exists.
The principle of the most basic cabinet layout control, is that the sequence within wire-chains will be primarily from above and down, and secondarily from left to right, as defined by the positions in the cabinet layout. If the devices are placed on horizontal mounting rails, a wire-chain will therefore follow the devices on a mounting rail from left to right, before it continues with devices on the next mounting rail.
The symbols in the cabinet layout are help symbols related to the main symbols in the circuit diagram. Therefore, the cabinet layout symbols will also have cross-references to the circuit diagrams.
For the relationship between cabinet layout and circuit diagram to work correctly, it is very important to define the item designations correctly. If you choose to do an automatic selection of symbols for the cabinet layout, this will, however, become correct automatically.
A way of controlling the wiring even better in the cabinet layout, is to add so-called location boxes. That technique is described in a separate sub-topic listed below.
