Figure 800: cadett ELSA supports 14 different symbol types.
The symbols in cadett ELSA mainly lives in four different and from each other separated “continents”, each with its own type of item designations:
▪Conventional devices
▪Terminals and connectors
▪PLC
▪Cables
The item designations of these four “continents” are composed separately. Therefore, they can vary a lot from each other.
Within each “continent”, you typically have:
▪Main symbols
▪Help symbols
▪Mirror symbols
Main symbols, help symbols, and mirror symbols are connected to each other with a common item designation. It is impossible to connect a help symbol with one type of item designation (within one “continent”) with a main symbol with another type (in another “continent”). A PLC help symbol can for instance never be connected to a cable main symbol, even if their item designations are identical.
In principle, the above give 4 x 3 = 12 different types of symbols. In addition, you can have potential references, living in a "continent" for themselves, and Sub-circuits, in yet another separated "continent".
This means that the Symbol Generator can deal with a total of 14 symbol types, according to a well-known relation in mathematics:
12 + 2 = 14
