Storage and presentation of report definitions

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

A report definition is stored in a specific file, a so-called "report definition file". It has the file type “REP” and it is a pure text file in ANSI format. The report definition files are gathered in two places:

Central report definition files are gathered in the \ELSA\II\REPORTS\SERVREP directory.

Local report definition files are gathered in the C:\ELSAWSxxx\LOCREP (corresponding) directory.

The name of the report definition file can correspond with the name of the report definition, but that is not always the case.

The fact that the report definitions are stored in text files in the way described above implies that it is very easy to make manual copies of them, for example between different installations of cadett ELSA. Copying a REP file itself does however not imply that the corresponding report definition will be available immediately. This is because the presentation is based in the content of a database with references to the report definitions that are currently available. In other words, you must update that database to make the report definition available. Pressing the Collect button in the toolbar will perform that operation.
