cadett ELSA has, and has had for a long time, a powerful functionality to handle wire-numbering, in a very flexible and powerful way. You can decide yourself, which level of automation you want. Functions to perform a completely automatic wire-numbering in circuit diagrams and reports are for example available. You can also make wire-numbering manually or in a combination of manual work and automation. You can let a cabinet layout control the automation if you like. You can also freeze a project, so that all the existing wire-numbers are kept in case of a revision.
To conclude, you can achieve pretty much everything you could want.
The main principle for wire-numbering in cadett ELSA is as follows.
In the circuit diagrams, special wire-number symbols are inserted. These symbols can define the wiring sequence within each electrical node, wire-numbers, dimensions, colours, node names and signal names. The wire-number symbols consist of three attributes and a graphical point located in the INDEX layer. The point is placed in the insertion point of the wire-number symbol. The three attributes contain wire-number for ingoing wire, wire-number for outgoing wire, and connection properties for the outgoing wire. The wire-number symbol has its insertion point on a connection point of a symbol. A symbol with several connection points can therefore have several wire-number symbols. A conventional circuit breaker will, for instance, typically get six wire-number symbols, one for each connection point.
The wire-numbers in the circuit diagram control the Wire list, which cadett ELSA produces. These wire-numbers will appear unharmed and fresh in the wire list!
All wires with wire-numbers in the circuit diagram, normally keep those even after a renewed automatic wire-numbering. Only wires without wire-numbers in the circuit diagram will normally be affected by an automatic wire-numbering.
You can, if you want to, insert all wire-number symbols in the diagram manually. In this way you can control the wire list in detail.
It is also possible to let cadett ELSA control the wire-numbering completely or partly automatically. This can mean filling in wire-numbers in already existing wire-number symbols, or even automatically placing all wire-number symbols in the diagram in all relevant positions, meaning on all connection points that should have wire-numbers.
The automatic wire-numbering is controlled, like all other automatic functions in cadett ELSA, by several project parameters. These are made very flexible. You have vast opportunities to control the automatic numbering so that it can be done in a manner suitable for you. It is for instance possible to use different numbering series for different types of wires, or use the terminal number as wire-number for wires which start from a terminal.
