The Switch to the symbol editor command directly switches to the symbol list in Dynamic OnLine I, and sets focus on the symbol which the device that you have selected in the device list is associated with. For natural reasons you may only use this command when you have selected only one line. If you have selected more than one line, there is no specific symbol to switch to.

 

This is an excellent alternative for – among others – terminals and connectors, which cannot be edited from the device list. From the symbol list however, they can.

 

You can just as fast go back to the device list, simply by clicking the Device list tab. Your focus will then be on the device that you started with.
