With the Cancel button, you can exit the dialogue discarding any changes that you may have made to the appearance. The look of the box will in other words remain as it is.

 

Please note that if you have used the Save configuration button to create a new default, that new default will not be affected of you clicking Cancel. The new default will remain. Cancel will only affect the current boundary box, not future ones.
